STEP and First STEP is a summer adventure program designed for young people from 6th through 12th grades. An organization sponsored by Houghton College, Wilderness Adventures is the umbrella organization for STEP and First STEP as well as for several other recreational outreach ministries, and is responsible for its own budget. With a full-time staff of four and ten student leaders, STEP and First STEP serve approximately 400 young people each summer. The program is a recreational tool designed to stretch individuals physically, emotionally and socially in order to stimulate self discovery, growth and group awareness. Pray for (1) staff development and commitment, finances, and participant recruitment; (2) the young people who experience STEP that they may be led to emulate the lives of their dedicated leaders.
