Hephzibah Children's Home, a ministry of the Wesleyan Church, is a fifty-bed facility (six group homes, ten residents in each home) for abused and rejected children and young people ages 6-18. Services include 24-hour supervision, medical provisions, psychological testing, counseling, educational opportunities, recreational activities, and spiritual nurture. In the fall of 2004, the goal is to open a new ten-bed Teen/Parent Home (currently under construction) for young people who move out of the Elizabeth Home. The Teen/Parent Home will provide a place for the young girls to live while they complete their education, develop a high degree of parenting skills, and move to the next level of finding a job and a more permanent place to live. Recent additions are the Recreation Center and Pet Therapy Center. Pray for (1) the General Director as he leads the ministry; (2) the foster parents as they deal with the children; (3) staff counselors; (4) the Director of the Elizabeth Home as she trains and works with young, expectant mothers; (5) the Education Director as he places the children in the educational environment that best meets their needs; (6) the many needs of the children and young people--emotional, physical, and spiritual.
